Cleaning and Organizing Your Bathroom Vanity

Bathrooms can get dirty and cluttered very quickly. In the hour or two that it takes everyone in the home to get ready in the morning, a bathroom and its vanity can go from sparkling to scary.

Here are some tips for cleaning and organizing the bathroom vanity that can help it be a little less so.

Cleaning Tips

Keep disinfectant wipes handy for quick cleanups. The canisters of pop up wipes are really convenient for wiping down the bathroom vanity daily. They can clean and disinfect the counter tops, sink, and faucets quickly and easily. When the last person is done in the bathroom, do a quick wipe down.

Use the proper cleaning products. Know which products to use to clean porcelain, stainless steel or plastic sinks. Using the correct product will help the surface of the sink shine and keep its finish longer.

Wipe the vanity mirror regularly. Use glass wipes or glass cleaner to clean the mirror every time you clean the rest of your bathroom.

Empty and clean out every six months. Every half year or so empty out your vanity. Wipe down all drawers and cabinets. Throw out any expired or unneeded products. Then replace the remaining items to their proper places.

Organizing Tips

Have a place for everything. A bathroom vanity stores a lot of items. Personal hygiene products, make up, hair brushes, curling irons, hair dryers, spare rolls of toilet paper, bars of soap, first aide supplies and myriad other items usually make their home in a bathroom vanity. Decide where each item should go and show everyone in the house where to return items when they are finished with them.

Use cabinet shelves. There are many shelving systems that are made for cabinets that are in a bathroom vanity. They are usually designed with the plumbing pipes in mind so they can fit around them. These shelving systems make the most efficient use of the space in the cabinets under the bathroom sink and help to keep things neat and orderly.

Use drawer organizers. Hair bands, band aides, cotton swabs, make up, and the rest of the items that get tossed in the vanity drawers can get lost easily. Draw organizers can help keep them where they can be found without a problem.
