Measure a Bathroom to Ensure a Vanity Set Will Fit
Unless an entire remodeling of a bathroom is in order, including moving the toilet and water lines, it is helpful to choose a new bathroom vanity which will fit into the general existing bathroom set up.
Believe
it or not, there have been people who have
shopped for and even purchased bathroom vanity
sets for their home without ever measuring the
size of the bathroom in which the set will be
installed. Talk about taking a risk! It’s not a
good idea to “eyeball” the size of a room, even
for a person with good visualization skills.
Fitting in the Existing Structure
Bathrooms generally come in the standard square
or rectangular shape, or possibly an “L” shape.
However, the position of the shower, the toilet,
the sink, and the door to the room can be
arranged in any number of ways. Unless an entire
remodeling of a bathroom is in order, including
moving the toilet and water lines, it is helpful
to choose a new bathroom vanity which will fit
into the general existing bathroom set up.
In addition to considering the size and
measurements of a bathroom, make sure to measure
the room’s height and take note whether or not
there is any sort of slant in the ceiling. Also,
especially in older homes, there may be duct
work or pipes along a particular wall that will
hinder the placement of some types of bathroom
vanity sets.
Small Versus Large Bathrooms
There are bathroom vanity sets specifically
designed for large area bathrooms as well as
small area bathrooms. While it may be easier to
fit more in a large bathroom, it’s quite amazing
how much can fit into a small bathroom if the
right vanity sets, light fixtures and mirrors
are used.
When dealing with a small space, it’s possible
to make the bathroom look bigger with the proper
design of a vanity set. The old adage, “Less is
More,” may ring true in this case. No matter
what the size of the bathroom… big or small…
exact measurements must be documented before a
bathroom vanity set is purchased.
