Luxury Bathroom Vanity Considerations

In many cases, luxury vanities are designed to customer specifications, and occasionally the owner may wish to have the sink area of the vanity raised to thirty six inches (in comparison with the average of 30 inches).

When a home is under construction or being remodeled, the owners may decide on an upscale master bath. These are usually much larger than average sized bathrooms and are appointed with higher quality necessities and several luxury features.

The shower may be finished with decorative tiles, repeated in a backsplash. There may be an enclosed commode area, skylights, and special lighting. But the main focal point is the vanity. It is the most noticeable décor in a luxury bath, since solid wood cabinetry with quality workmanship is found in most premium vanity designs.

Luxury bathroom vanities in this category often utilize double sink construction, but the majority offer more than two sinks in one countertop. Many provide each user with a useable amount of space around the sink, as well as additional space between the two sinks for grooming items, towels, dryers, and other essentials. In many cases, luxury vanities are designed to customer specifications, and occasionally the owner may wish to have the sink area of the vanity raised to thirty six inches (in comparison with the average of 30 inches). Those six extra inches allow a greater comfort when bending over the sink, especially for taller individuals. The extra counter space between the two working areas is often dropped down to normal height, creating a lower “bridge”. A customer can request additional cabinetry for storage underneath this bridge, extending the look of the vanity. Another customer may choose no cabinetry underneath to create a seated make-up place. Yet another owner may decide to place that extra counter space at one end of the vanity instead of in the middle.

Options do not end with the look, size or layout of the vanities; some buyers also request under-mounted sink installation. This feature removes the protrusion, or lip, around the sink edge, which decreases the amount of puddles from water hitting the protrusion and sliding down onto the workspace.

All customization requires the assistance of a professional bathroom designer. The designer will suggest a vast array of countertops, hardware, fixtures, mirrors and lighting to complement the upscale vanity cabinetry and will also co-ordinate installation with other vendors. (For example, a Jacuzzi is often encased in wood cabinetry that matches the vanity, and has ceramic tile that matches the floor around its edge; this requires excellent communication between different suppliers and installers.)

With luxury bathrooms, vanity possibilities are endless!
